Using the mind in service to the heart!

I use to wake up most mornings with a mind full of thoughts that were worrisome in nature. “What if I don’t have enough money this month? What if I there is too long a line for the metro ticket? Should I just hire a taxi and pay the extra $20.00? What if they don’t call me into work again today? What if they hate my presentation?” And the list of chattering fear thoughts would go on and on.

Today, I am more aware of how to use my mind in service to my heart. For so long, I’ve allowed my mind to run a muck, then to make matters worse, I believed what my mind was telling me. No wonder I experienced stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia. My facilitators Dr. Ron and Dr. Mary Hulnick at University of Santa Monica would remind us that the mind is to be used in service to the heart. I guess I never really understood what they meant by that until recently.

Over the years, as I observe my thoughts and how fear based they are, I continue to commit to practicing neutral observation. The more I distance myself from living in the fear thoughts to observing the fear thoughts I am aware of greater ease in my body, mind and spirit. As I observe the mind and it’s various antics I am more aware of the place inside that is observing and witnessing the antics of the mind. From the place of observation I can let go of believing in the fear thoughts that are presented, as if these fear thoughts were reality, let alone sane.

Instead of engaging in the negative future fantasy, for yet another minute, I remembered I could instead engage in positive future fantasy. “I get to have time off to write on my thesis. I have plenty of money in my savings. I love my home and how beautiful and safe it is. I am so grateful for my health.” etc. When thinking these positive thoughts I am aware of my body relaxing and my emotions calming. I am aware of breathing more easily and exhaling with a sense of peace and faith that all is well. What’s ironic is that these positive thoughts are more truthful. These positive thoughts are in service to my heart.

In order to let your mind be in service to your heart, I recommend that you begin by observing your thoughts. Get familiar with just observing your thoughts as you go through your day. Recognize the content of your thoughts. Then begin to notice the observer or witness of your thoughts. Spend time with this place inside that is just noticing your thoughts. Get to know this place inside. The witness is a doorway into your heart and soul. As you become more in tune with the observer you will begin to tap into the essence of yourself as The Beloved. The I AM. The Presence of your Is-ness. The more we reside in the essence of our TRUE SELF the more joy, peace, love and bliss we experience. Life becomes easier. We are more in tune with the flow of Grace because we are Grace.

If you are interested in connecting to your True Self more consistently so that you can experience greater joy, peace, love and bliss, email me at jewelleagrant@yahoo.com or set up your complimentary breakthrough session at jewelleagrant.as.me, TODAY! In the meantime notice the observer and allow yourself to experience the essence of your True Self. Namaste Beloved.

Be – Do – Have

We are conditioned to Do in order to have the things we desire so that we can ultimately experience happiness. As a student at the University of Santa Monica, in the master’s program of Spiritual Psychology, I was introduced to the concept of Be – Do – Have. The more I practice residing in the heart of who I am as a spiritual being the more I am attuned to the power of BEING. As I center in my being ness and then take action from that place inside, I am aware of greater ease and grace, showing up in my daily life.

Most of my life, the focus has been on taking actions and doing. My personal experience is one of effort and struggle as I took actions in order to have what it was I thought I wanted so that I could experience peace and joy. I struggled to get what I wanted which was ultimately joy. I thought that if I completed my to – do list I would be at peace. But that rarely happened. I experienced moments of relief when I accomplished the items on my to-do list. Invariably the relief was short lived. There was always more to do. Such the nature of being human.

As I connect and reside in the infinite consciousness of my Self II am noticing actions coming from a place of inspiration. As I take actions from inspiration (In-Spirit) I am aware of greater ease and grace. It has taken many years to connect to the place inside that is eternal, peaceful and expansive. The number one method I have used to connect to my Presence is Spiritual Exercises. Through my doctorate program I learned that the only wrong way to do Spiritual Exercises was to not do them. I began with 2 minutes and over time built up to 2 hours a day. It was through commitment and accountability to my SELF that I maintained a practice of daily spiritual exercises.. The more I spent time in connection with my True Self through spiritual exercises the more I experienced changes in my life. Everything that no longer served my True Self had to go.

I was married at the time to an active alcoholic who acted as if he were sober. He was lying to everyone including himself, I suppose. The more I became connected to my divinity, the more I became self empowered to live according to my values and Soul’s calling. The more I connected to my SELF and lived my Soul’s calling the more the relationship crumpled. He succumbed to his addictions due to his unresolved shame. It wasn’t long before I left the marriage. There was no choice but to leave. When you claim your inner inheritance as an extension of Universal Creation there is no choice but to let go of negativity. Negativity can be your own addictions or someone else addictions. Negativity of any form resided in against-ness. As we connect to the eternal Source of our being-ness it is a given that against-ness no longer serves us or our lives.

When you begin or expand your spiritual life it is common for your life to shift in ways that bring you to your knees. The ego is devastated. The Essence of your Divine Self is elated. Pain is the touch stone of spiritual growth and expansion. In my doctorate program we are reminded to use everything for our learning, growth and upliftment. The greatest pain yields the greatest blessings. Today I am freer than I have ever been. I am residing more often in my Essence of the pure Self. I am braver, calmer, happier and more faithful. I am slowly but surely making spiritual progress. Oh by the way, as you connect more spiritually, there are those who will try to tear you down. There will be those in your past who will throw your human-ness and errors of your ego in your face. They will try to destroy you with your past human-ness. Stay strong in your inner knowing that ultimately “You do not exist.”

Soul Awareness

Are you tired of being consumed by thoughts of self doubt, not good enough, confusion, overwhelm, wanting more out of life, forcing solution, not knowing how to get what you want, missing something but not knowing what it is? That is known as the human condition. There is also a beautiful experience of being hu-man. We have many wonderful experiences as a “man” and “wo-man”. We desire more of these wonderful experiences.

There is a greater part of us that is alive, clear, expansive and peaceful. It is the HU in human. We have been conditioned to ignore this power and awareness within. We have been conditioned to put our focus on developing our self concept and our lives to match the expectations of the environment we grew up in and the world’s expectations at large.

We try to be the best somebody we can be. Our effort has or hasn’t paid off. We eventually realize there is something missing. What is the missing piece? The missing piece is the awareness of yourself as Soul. We are and have a powerful force within us that is imperishable, eternal, nameless and grounded in immense joy. Joy is the expression of who we are as spiritual beings. It is the HU in human. We are woman/man AND we are Soul. We are eternal essence of Be-ing.

So how do we tap into the truth of who we are? We begin by recognizing the Self that is aware of the movements of our inward and outward lives at the same time. Notice experiences, thoughts and feelings that come and go. Begin by residing in this place of awareness. Observe. It is a detached and neutral place inside that is infinite, peaceful, expansive and joyful. It is a process of laying down the mask of self concept and releasing the ego strategies of making life the way you think it should be. But rather trusting grace as you marinate in the awareness of who you are as Spirit. Soul Awareness is a moment to moment practice in the beginning. It is a process of recognition of your Self as the Truth. There is no wrong way of being with your Self. The important piece is to BE with your SELF as often as possible.

The more I practiced Soul Awareness through my Doctorate in Spiritual Sciences the more my life changed in a way that supported me and my spiritual insights. Today, I experience things, people, jobs, problems, concerns, fears, and doubts dissipating into nothingness in which they came as I practice Soul Awareness. The more I reside in the presence of my Be-ing the more I am aware of how insignificant my ruminating thoughts of the past and future are. It has become easier to access and reside in Truth. It is a huge gift to know that I AM. The Kingdom of God is within. We all reside within the Kingdom of God and our inherent nature is Royal and Divine. It is our mission to expose this Truth to ourselves and others.

I have been challenged with a great loss 3 years ago and today I understand that the “loss” was a release of a relationship that did not align with my Heart or Spirit. As heartbreaking as it was to leave a lifestyle, my home and community, I am aware of how divine it has been for providing me with a more kind and accepting relationship with my Self. It has been a powerful circumstance that has open me up to know my SELF. It has strengthened me in ways I could only have hoped for. I walk freer today as the result of allowing Soul Awareness to be activated in myself.

Often it takes a break down of our current life to get our attention. If you find yourself wondering “is this all there is?” you are probably ready to connect to your SELF in a new way. I am here in loving service to your transformation. Schedule your complimentary breakthrough session at jewelleagrant.as.me. Recovering Perfectionist

Yes. It is true! I am a recovering perfectionist. I didn’t know for a long time what was creating incredible discomfort inside of myself. It was shame. A sense of feeling defective, bad and wrong. The shame that fuels perfectionism is overwhelmingly stressful and toxic to our whole being. This stress creates havoc on all levels physically, emotionally, mentally, financially, relationally and spiritually. Shame tells us we are bad. Guilt tells us we have done something bad or wrong and we can make amends. Shame is destructive and pervasive in our homes, work environments, media and in our culture.

In order to begin healing from perfectionism we need to address shame. Shame thrives in judgment and secrecy. It is important to dissolve shame storms with the support of our friends. As we share our experiences of shame we begin to heal in the openness of allowing ourselves to be human. As human beings we all make mistakes and have many opportunities for growth and learning. We are all worthy of love and respect, gentleness and kindness. We are all challenged with life and various circumstances. Our human-ness is our common bond. We all suffer from shame. Shame and blame are conditioned patterns and ways of being inside ourselves and with others until we commit to healing the shame that binds us. Whenever we are coming from of place of against-ness it is usually within the energy field of shame. “You are doing it wrong.” “Who do you think you are?” “I’m right, you’re wrong.”etc.

Shame fuels depression, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, addictions, perfectionism, gambling, compulsive work and OCD. It is a pervasive feeling of not good enough. As a recovering perfectionist it is important to allow ourselves to make mistakes. We learn to be gentle with ourselves. We allow ourselves to be flawed, human and imperfect.

Everyday it is a practice of being honest, vulnerable and genuine. It is a courageous act to be vulnerable. It is also very rewarding. Vulnerability and authenticity creates connection. I encourage you to try vulnerability with those you feel safe. Take baby steps and tell the truth. Share your inner most experience with someone you trust. Shame dissipates when shared with others. Most importantly be compassionate with yourself and others. We are all doing our best. We do better when we know better.

Remember you are worthy of love no matter what. Love does not depend on being perfect. Love is your inherent birthright. Spiritually speaking you are LOVE. The Universal impulse is that of LOVE. You are LOVE.

If you are ready to move beyond shame into your AWESOMENESS go to jewelleagrant.as.me to schedule your complimentary breakthrough session so that you can live more fearlessly, aligned with your True Self, experiencing greater health, wealth and happiness. You will be glad you did!!

Compassionate Self Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a challenging yet profoundly important path to learn and maneuver. We are aware of how important it is to not only forgive others but to forgive ourselves. Anger, resentment, judgment, feelings of betrayal and bitterness affects our health in ways that we do not consciously comprehend. The delusion is that we can get away with these feelings of against-ness without consequences. The truth is every time we judge ourselves or others we are inflicting wounds on our psyche.

Our inherent nature is unconditional loving. That is who and what we are at the core of our True Self. When we condemn or hold a position of self righteousness, we are tearing flesh, so to speak. We are hurting ourselves. At the core of our being we are engaging in fragmentation and splitting off from our inherent Loving Presence by misinterpreting ourselves and others as other than who are, Spiritual beings using this human experience to learn greater SELF AWARENESS, transforming limiting beliefs and releasing anything unlike loving.

When we are feeling hurt by perceiving we are being judged by others we are also wounding ourselves. We are agreeing with the judgment on some level. We know this by our reaction of hurt or anger. As we grow more secure and confident inside of ourselves any judgment from others simply fall away. It is your barometer of progression. If you know the truth of who you are, as HU-man, reactions to others will be minimal. You will find yourself living in greater peace which manifests as greater health, physically, emotionally, mentally, financially and interpersonally.

After my divorce I was feeling so disillusioned, disappointed, betrayed, lied to and so very hurt that my mind and emotions were full of judgments. It took a great deal of effort, on a daily basis, to work with and release my sense of self righteousness and feeling like a victim. Even though I was victimized by his behaviors there came a time to move forward, to release the negativity, and to take back my power and my life. I am grateful to the various resources available to me in order to heal my mind, body, emotions, finances, and heart. Today I am stronger, wiser, more compassionate and healthier because I chose inner freedom through compassionate self forgiveness.

When we go through major trauma it is wise to give ourselves plenty of time and space to heal. There is so much turmoil and disorganization that happens as the result of major life changes. It is as if we need time in the recovery room after a major surgery. The healing process is unique and individualized. It is important to give space and time to feeling all of the emotions and processing all of the various events leading up to and after the life altering circumstance. We can seek out various resources such as grief support groups, counseling, coaching and spiritual communities that may be very supportive during these times of loss and trauma.

The more we can forgive ourselves and others the more inner freedom and joy we experience. Our health thrives. Our relationships flourish. Our finances blossom. Our joy returns with more potency and aliveness. Compassionate self forgiveness is a process of recovery and healing. Give yourself the gift of healing. You are WEALTH!

One of the things I love to do is to facilitate A COURSE IN MIRACLES. We meet every Tuesday morning at 10 am at Unity Church of Peace in Tucson. This last Tuesday I awakened to the awareness that we are all wealthy. It is our projections and belief in scarcity that keeps up wrapped up in the experience of lack and feeling as though we don’t have enough. It is through the allowance of the Presence of our True Self that we have the opportunity to generate and experience our wealth.

Each time we take a moment to move our awareness to the essence of who we are as DIVINE we feed our Self TRUTH. The truth is we are wealthy. The more we acknowledge this truth the more we burp up and release projections of lack. Our ego loves to tell us that we do not have enough and that we need more. The REALITY is we have enough because we are enough. Our worthiness is inherent in the fact that we are THE BELOVED.

Today, give yourself the gift of your own inner knowing of your SELF as WEALTH.
